Report by Elder Kleber Salles
This quarter, because of the pandemic, we travelled only once to Caraguatatuba. On that occasion we also went to visit the wife and children of Br. Dilson, who died of cancer on June 28th. Br. Dilson was one of the founding members of the Caraguatatuba congregation. The whole church was saddened by what happened. There had also been the expectation that he would become an office bearer in the congregation. Pray for his wife Simone, and their sons João Victor (14) and Samuel (12).
Despite this, the congregation has remained steadfast and continues to progress despite the difficulty of the fact that there is only one office bearer, Elder Kleber. It is hoped that with recent professions of faith, and in the future an entire family that is arriving from a Presbyterian church, that there will soon be more men available for the offices. So far, Elder Kleber has been divided between his personal work, family, and holding Sunday services, studies and weekly visits. It is a lot of work for one person! Currently, we see this brother’s wear and tear, especially due to the fact that during the pandemic Elder Kleber has been trying very hard to encourage many congregants to continue to come to church.
Lecture on Christian Education
The congregation is also involved in raising members’ awareness of the importance of Christian education. To that end, Reformed Education Worker Br. Elias Barbosa has been invited to give presentations.
Missionary work with an indigenous community
Elder Kleber, being someone who walks around the city and neighbouring cities a lot due to the nature of his work at the state energy company, came into contact with a family from an indigenous community. The family has shown interest in getting to know the Reformed faith.
